pt.jpgWelcome to Proud Tameside, a network of individuals from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities in Tameside who work towards identifying, promoting and improving services for lgbt people in the Borough.

Proud Tameside was formed out of work done by Tameside Third Sector Coalition (T3SC) and the Lesbian and Gay Foundation (LGF) during 2007-2008 with funding from the ChangeUp programme managed by Capacitybuilders. The resulting report, Supporting the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities within Tameside, created the framework within which the Proud Tameside LGBT Network took shape.

Proud Tameside aims to:

  • Enable lgbt people to have their say about services in Tameside and to raise awareness of our needs.
  • Identify services available to the lgbt communities in Tameside and raise awareness of how to access these.
  • Provide a basis for consultation with the lgbt communities by organisations which deliver our services and affect our lives.
  • Promote a positive image of the lgbt communities and acknowledge their contributions to the history and achievements of the Tameside area.

We meet every two months, presently at the T3SC Offices in St Michael’s Court, St Michael’s Square, Stamford Street, Ashton-under-Lyne OL6 6XN – although we will probably be meeting in a new venue from the start of 2010.  Anyone from the lgbt communities in Tameside is welcome to attend our meetings and contribute to the discussions, consultations and activity planning.

We report on what we’ve been doing, raise issues for discussion and invite online feedback by means of our ‘Blog, News and Discussions’ section on this site – a  link is shown at the top of this page.  Please feel free to respond to the topics covered in the blog and give us your views and ideas.  (Note: all comments are moderated, so may not appear online immediately.)

The group also has a Facebook Group at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=89841357523 which we encourage you to join and promote among your Facebook friends.
