pt.jpgWelcome to Proud Tameside – flying the rainbow flag for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality and serving as a forum and a voice for lgbt communities across the Borough.

We are a network of individuals from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities in Tameside who work towards identifying, promoting and improving services for lgbt people in the Borough.

We come together every couple of months to:

  • share information,
  • enable lgbt people to have our say about services in Tameside,
  • raise awareness of our needs,
  • consult with organisations which deliver our services and affect our lives,
  • promote a positive image of the lgbt communities in Tameside,
  • acknowledge the contributions of lgbt people to the history and achievements of the  area,
  • and enable friendship, contacts and networking to counteract the social isolation often experienced by individuals in our communities.

Assembled on the steps of Ashton Town Hall

We meet every two months, presently in the Board Room at the headquarters of Ashton Pioneer Homes in Margaret House, Margaret Street, Ashton, OL6 7TH – see the box on the right of this page for details of our next meeting.  Anyone from the lgbt communities in Tameside is welcome to attend our meetings, make friends and contribute to the discussions, consultations and activity planning of the group.

We report on what we’ve been doing, raise issues for discussion and invite online feedback by means of our ‘Blog, News and Discussions’ section on this site – just follow the link at the top of this page.  Please feel free to respond to the topics covered in the blog and give us your views and ideas.  (Note: all comments are moderated, so may not appear online immediately.)
